About Auron and Yuna
Auron is my favourite FF character of all time. As a young man, he was a "warrior monk, doomed to obscurity for refusing the hand of the priest's daughter." He becomes Lord Braska's guardian until the summoner dies defeating Sin. Filled with remorse, Auron attempts to avenge his friend's death by attacking Yunalesca, who convinced Braska to perform the Final Summoning which killed him. Unfortunately, Auron is mortally wounded and dies before he is able to fulfill his promise to take Braska's daughter, Yuna, to Besaid.
Yuna was taken by Kimahri Ronso to Bevelle at the request of a dying man, whom she believes to be her father. Ten years later, Yuna is embarking on her own pilgrimage to become High Summoner like Braska before her. On the way, she meets up with Auron again, who is now unsent and in charge of a strange young man called Tidus. He offers to be her guardian, and she gratefully accepts. Together, the three of them along with Kimahri and several other guardians head to Zanarkand to obtain the Final Aeon.
Why Auron/Yuna?
For starters, I see absolutely no romantic attraction between these two at all, not to say that it isn't possible. To me, their relationship is very familial, Auron is a surrogate father to the young summoner. It is obvious that Yuna deeply respects Auron as a guardian and her father's friend, however she is also frustrated by his enigmatic behaviour and cool manner. Auron, in turn, has great admiration for Yuna and sees much of her father in her. It is my belief that Yuna is the first (besides Seymour) to figure out that Auron is unsent, being a summoner and in tune to the Fayth. Auron, while supporting Yuna's pilgrimage, is just as willing to find an alternate route that will spare his charge's life. However, you don't have to agree with me on what type of relationship these two share. This fanlisting also supports the (possibly) romantic and even rivalry aspects of their relationship.
